What is advocacy?

HISTORY:   The Project was set up over 12 years ago when DLMAC recognised that the community of Drumchapel had problems and issues that were non legal/money advice, but still needed to be addressed.

TERMS DEFINED:  Advocacy, by definition, is about taking action to help people say what they want, secure their rights, represent their interests and obtain services they want.

TYPICAL PARTNERSHIP:  A Citizen Advocate will meet with you to discuss the issues you are facing and how you wish to tackle them.  The advocate will, at all times, be on your side and speak to other professionals / projects / agencies on your behalf, if you so wish it.  Your advocate will also inform you of the options available to you.
