Other Benefits

Housing & Council Tax Benefit - These are for those on a low income who are liable to pay rent or Council Tax.  Both are means tested benefits and a complex calculation is applied to determine entitlement.

Child Benefit - is a non means tested benefit paid to anyone who has responsibility for a child or a qualifying young person. In certain circumstances Child Benefit can be paid for young people up to the age of 20.

Retirement Pension - is based on a clients' or their partners National Insurance Contribution record and is payable to women from age 60 and to men from age 65.

Pension Credit - is a means tested benefit payable to those over 60 to top up their pension or low income.

Industrial Injuries Benefits - are payable to those who suffer from an illness or injury as a result of their work

Overpayments - often arise where changes in curcumstances have not been reported to the DWP and benefits continue to be paid despite the client no longer having an entitlement.  Any decision in respect of an overpayment carries the right of appeal and appeals can often result in the reduction or removal of the overpayment.
